If you already play an instrument coming to Lamar for the first time in the 20-21 school year, Ms. B wants to make sure that you get scheduled in an advanced (non-beginner orchestra). If you are fine with being in our Philharmonic Orchestra which is a step up after a beginner year, or after a year or two of private lessons, then no extra auditions is necessary. Just make sure you have emailed Ms. Berecek to let her know your child's name, instrument, and background that way she can schedule you in the Philharmonic Orchestra.
If you would like to be considered for our top orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, of our most advanced or more experienced students, I am asking all current Lamar students and anyone entering Lamar next year to do an "audition" for that group through video submission this year.
Please see the attached documents that outlines the audition expectations for Symphony Orchestra and the music and scales to learn for each instrument.
A video submission will be due to Ms. B by May 1, 2020. You can email her at email@example.com. If you cannot make the video submission work, we may be able to work out a "live" zoom audition if necessary.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have a question or need clarification.
